Gunman holds staff hostage after storming hospital in Istanbul

An armed man on Wednesday held staff hostage at a hospital in Istanbul, Turkey.

According to Daily star, the incident took place at a medical institution in Istanbul.

Local media reports state that the man has a gun, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.

Turkish media has said he is a patient at the psychiatric unit of Istanbul's Cerrahpasa hospital. Cops are said to be on the scene now.

As per reports, it is a police officer undergoing treatment who is the hostage-taker.

It comes just weeks after a gunman dressed as Father Christmas stormed a nightclub in the Turkish city, killing 39 revelers as he sprayed bullets onto a packed dance floor.

 

The Reina Club attack was claimed by Islamic terror group, ISIS.
