New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill has added his voice to the chorus calling for more international matches, especially Tests, for New Zealand in order to lift their profile.

According to Sport24, legendary Kiwi all-rounder Richard Hadlee recently said that New Zealand needed more Tests but the perception in other countries was that the team was not box-office material.

The report further said that Hadlee's comments came as India, the number-two ranked Test team in the world, stated that it wants to reduce the scheduled three-Test programme to two.

Stating that New Zealand would struggle to go ahead from its eighth-placed Test ranking without a steady number of games against quality opponents, Guptill, who will miss the rest of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with a broken bone in his right hand, said that it is high time that other countries noted the quality of the side's players.

Guptill further said that the only they can get better and keep on developing is by playing more Tests.
