Australian player David Warner has said that he is disappointed about his violent behaviour in a Birmingham nightclub contributing to Mickey Arthur's sacking as Australian coach.

According to stuff.co.nz, Warner revealed that he broke down and cried on the phone to his mother after he found out that he had been dropped for the first Ashes Test.

However, the report said that the player was all smiles at his media conference on Monday in London, and expressed an understanding of the effect that punching England's Joe Root has had on those around him

Arthur had supported Warner through his recent off-field dramas, and even Cricket Australia admitted the coach had been made a scapegoat in many respects for the team's poor discipline, the report added.
