Guwahati: NIA files chargesheet against ULFA terrorists

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a chargesheet against ULFA terrorist Gagan Hazarika and two other absconding accused before a special NIA Court, for allegedly trying to revive terrorist activities and resorting to extortion and kidnapping to raise funds for attacking Indian security forces.

Hazarika, alias Joydeep Cheleng, and absconding accused persons, Paresh Baruah alias Kamruj Zaman Khan have been booked under the Unlawful Prevention (Activities) Act 1967 for intending to wage war against the Government of India.

The NIA said it has collected sufficient material, technical as well as circumstantial evidence against the accused persons during investigation and established the allegations against each accused persons.

 

"Accused Paresh Baruah @ Paresh Asom has been in Myanmar and Dr. Mukul Hazarika @ Dr. Abhijit Asom in United Kingdom. They have been declared absconders and further action has been initiated," the NIA officials said.

The NIA said it will further continue investigation against Drishti Rajkhowa and other senior leaders of the ULFA organisation.
