Over 100 flower cultivators from various parts of Assam recently came together in Guwahati to attend a seminar on how to cultivate orchids scientifically.
The two-day event was organized at the Auditorium of Krishak Niwas, Directorate of Agriculture Campus, Khanapara, Guwahati under the aegis of the Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam.
The climate in the Northeast is suitable for cultivating orchids and the region produces a variety of wild orchids.
The government has been encouraging farmers to take up flower cultivation by organising various horticulture shows.
