Much has been written about David Beckham's acting debut in 'King Arthur

But, Director Guy Ritchie while talking to Sky News defended Beckham's performance and called him "fantastic".

The 48-year-old director stated, "He was fantastic, I love old Becksy. He is a fabulous actor and a real pleasure to be with."

When asked about what potential he sees in the former footballer, when it comes to acting he said, "I don't know yet, one step at a time."

The 'Sons of Anarchy' fame Charlie Hunnam, who plays the titular role also praised Beckham's performance and said that he took his role very seriously.

"It was lovely [working with Beckham], he did an amazing job. He is very quiet and humble and serious. I thought it was a lark, I thought he was just going to show up for a laugh because he is Guy's friend, but he took it all very, very seriously," he noted.

'King of Arthur: Legend of the Sword' has generally garnered negative reviews from the critics and the audiences. The film currently holds an 18 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
