Had meeting with concerned dept to find solution to flood problem: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday said that he had a meeting with all the concerned department of the Government of India to find a solution to problems of flood and erosion situation in the state.

"Today we had a meeting regarding the flood and erosion problem in Assam. The state is going through a very difficult period. With the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will able to give the best support to the affected people throughout the state," he told ANI here.

He said Prime Minister Modi has already announced relief package to conduct study and research related to the problem of floods and prepare a comprehensive report and the meeting was just to review the progress of the same.

 

"To meet that particular objective, we had the meeting with all the concerned department. We are giving all possible support food grain, medical support," he said.

The death toll in Assam flood has crossed 100.

The situation is so grim in the affected regions that it had rendered lakhs of people homeless and has forced them to land up in relief camps. The floods have affected the train services, damaged crops, left thousand stranded in states and has seized normalcy completely.

Most of the forest areas in Kaziranga National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Lawkhua wildlife sanctuary are submerged under water.
