The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson has said that banned spinning Mohammad Hafeez could still compete at next month's World Cup as an all-rounder as he is to undergo official testing on his bowling action later this month.
Pakistan's selectors had named Hafeez in their 15-man World Cup squad as a batsman but the off-spinner's bowling action has to be cleared by the International Cricket Council before he can also bowl in the tournament, Sport24 reported.
PCB chairperson Shahryar Khan said that Hafeez believes that he would pass official testing and if the ace-spinner passes the test, he will play the World Cup as an all-rounder.
Hafeez, who was banned by the ICC from international cricket last month, failed to clear his bowling action last week at unofficial testing in Chennai, India, the report added.
