After he was reported for a suspected illegal action by match officials in Galle against Sri Lanka on Sunday, Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez faces a one year ban.

The off-spinner will now undergo bowling tests within the next 14 days. If his action is found illegal for the second time in the span of seven months, he will automatically be given a 12-month ban from his own country, the Guardian reported.

The ICC statement read that the match officials' report handed over to the Pakistan management cited concerns about the legality of the 34-year-old's bowling action during the course of the match.

The former Pakistan captain was earlier reported after the first test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi in November 2014 and was banned after his action was subsequently found to be illegal.

However, he was allowed to bowl with a changed action in April.
