British racer Lewis Hamilton won the 32nd Grand Prix of his career, as he overtook his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg to win the United States Grand Prix, and now has more career wins than any other Briton, passing Nigel Mansell and equalling the tally of rival Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton, who grabbed his fifth victory in succession, 10th this season, said that he is really grateful to be up front. He and Alonso are now equal fifth on the all-time Formula One winners' list.
Hamilton, who extended his lead over Rosberg with the win, also said that it is such a privilege to be representing his country and added that to be at the top of the driver wins is quite special, The BBC reported.
Hamilton took his 10th victory of the season thanks to a late and brave move down the inside of Rosberg at Turn 12, after erasing the German's lead. The result extends Hamilton's lead over Rosberg to 24 points with 75 available in the two remaining races.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo drove superbly to beat the Williams to third.
Hamilton's victory would be another psychological blow for Rosberg, who arrived in Austin, Texas, admitting that he needed three strong races to have any chance of beating his teammate to the title.
