Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that the Mercedes racing duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg could complete a clean sweep of all 19 races in this Formula One season.

Alonso said that Mercedes should be in a position to win all the races probably, having taken pole position and victory at every race so far this year, so it is going to be tight between the teammates.

Alonso said that the Formula One championship would probably be decided by who finishes the most races between Hamilton and Rosberg, the BBC reported.

However, Hamilton, who is on pole for Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix, said that he has not thought that far down the line about winning all the Grands Prix this season, adding that he is trying to focus on what is happening now.

Hamilton also said that if Mercedes continues to develop as it has, then there is every chance that they could achieve that aim, as their goal is to win everything.

No team has ever won all the races in a single Formula One season and the closest anyone has ever come to doing that is when McLaren's racing duo of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost won 15 of the 16 races in 1998, the report added.
