Reigning Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has said that the motorsport racing is still an incredible challenge but insisted that for him it is just a different kind of racing as now, one has to be fast as well as efficient.
Formula One racing has seen a lot of changes over the years with earlier the races being a series of sprints between pit stops to now, where one has to save fuel and where tyre management is critical.
Hamilton revealed that the race in China was all about managing their tyres to ensure that they made them last as long as they needed to for the perfect race strategy.
Writing in his column for the BBC, Hamilton stated that it's really hard to explain what these cars and tyres are like to drive, adding that sometimes one slides them through the corners and the tyres overheat; sometimes one drives the car the same way and they don't.
Hamilton insisted that it's a really complicated thing and one doesn't exactly know how the tyres would react beforehand, so they have to manage the tyres and make sure that they don't go over the edge and damage them. He pointed out that in China, the level of tyre management was definitely towards the upper end of the scale.

Hamilton revealed that when he first started in Formula One, the races were a series of sprints between pit stops, adding that since then, the nature of the challenge has changed several times there have been races when one has to fuel save, races when tyres are critical, sometimes both.
He said that the sprint races were good fun - very physical, but added that now, one has to be fast but efficient, too, and the races are much more complex.
Hamilton insisted that Formula One is still an incredible challenge, adding that the tyres are tricky to manage, and there is so much information to take in, but one still needs to be really quick because that's what it's all about in the end.
