A large number of people gathered at the Purbasha ground here to buy exquisite handloom and handicraft products from artisans and weavers from various parts of the country.
The National Hand-loom Expo- 2015 was held for the seventeenth time in Tripura and around 60 stalls from states like Assam, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Kashmir, Tripura and one from neighouring Bangladesh came together to showcase their creative crafts.
The expo aims to improve and facilitate the entrepreneurs to come together and create awareness and promote their products.
"Here we are getting the handloom and handicraft products of various state in one products and we generally do not get this chance here. The products are of very good quality and this time I have bought a Kashmiri shawl. Every year I visit this expo," said Sukla Das, a visitor.
The expo would also help weavers from different states to explore the design and products of their neighbouring states. The producers also get best price of their products as they sell their products directly to the sellers.
"We are all total 394 women who deposit all our products in the cluster after selling them we get back our money. Every year two women from our cluster participates in fairs outside the state like in Delhi where we sell our produces. Ours is a total women run cluster and we make bamboo handicraft products at our houses and deposit them in the cluster that takes the responsibility of selling them and thus we are earning sitting at homes," said Bina Roy, a handicraft artisan.
The expo will go on for ten days.
