Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been named as the player of the month for January by the English Premier League.
Kane was named Barclays Player of the Month after scoring five goals in four league fixtures during January. He beat Crystal Palace's Dwight Gayle, Southampton's Jose Fonte, Chelsea's Oscar, Liverpool's Emre Can and Arsenal's Santi Cazorla to the honor.
Kane's January performances included the brace he scored twice as Tottenham thumped league leaders Chelsea 5-3 on New Year's Day, and also his goals against Crystal Palace, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion, Sport24 reported.
Kane said that New Year's Day was a great day for him and a great day for Tottenham as well, adding that he got the two goals against Chelsea, which was a great night for them, and he managed to finish it off quite well against West Brom as well so he insisted that it was a great month for him and Tottenham as a club.
The striker said that they are still in quite a few competitions and are doing well in the league, so it's exciting times ahead. He added that February's going to be a big month as well, and he is really looking forward to it and hopeful that they can all continue their form.
Meanwhile, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman picked up his second Barclays Manager of the Month award, thanks to his side beating Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle in January, the report added.
