Harry Potter spin-off titled 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' authored by J.K. Rowling will reportedly be made into a film trilogy.

Warner Bros Chief Kevin Tsujihara said that there would be a trilogy of films based on the book, which will follow a 'magizoologist' named Newt Scamander, the BBC reported.

The 48-year-old author said that Scamander was the author of a guide to magical creatures set in New York, and the book was neither a sequel nor a prequel, but an 'extension' of Harry Potter's wizarding world.

Rowling told the New York Times that they had one dinner, a follow-up telephone call, and then she got out the rough draft that she thought was going to be an interesting bit of memorabilia for her kids and started rewriting.

The British novelist had always said that she would only revisit the wizarding world if she had a clue that she was really excited about.
