Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he once feared Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale was too obsessed with his hairstyle to make it as a top footballer.
According to News.com.au, Redknapp wrote in his autobiography that Bale drove him mad in training and even though technically, he was outstanding, he always seemed to be playing with his hair.
The former Spurs manager added that Bale was never right and he would be flicking the fringe or wiping it out of his eyes and he would be going quietly mad, just watching and wanting to tell him to stop touching his hair and leave his barnet alone.
Redknapp, who now manages second-tier Queens Park Rangers, was also worried about Bale's propensity for injury, the report said.
He said that the striker was always getting a little knock in training and he would go down, then limp off and he always thought that the physios made too much fuss of him.
