Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday reached out to the people of Haryana ahead of the state assembly polls scheduled later this year and highlighted the development works carried out by his government during the last nine-and-a half years.
"I want to remind you and ask you some questions today. Just remember what the situation in 2004 was, wasn't there an atmosphere of gangsterism?...Weren't the industrialists running away from the state?...Wasn't there demonstration in various places demanding electricity? There was panic in the entire state," he asked a massive rally here.
The Chief Minister promised to turn Haryana into an education hub.
"We had changed the state's fortune during the last nine years but we never indulged in revenge which the people of Haryana are a witness to. In nine years, we have worked to make Haryana a hub of education. I can today vouch that those students who are going outside for education, you would see that in the next five years there would be students from overseas who would come here to study and make this an education hub," he added.
In an attempt to win over the hearts of members of the farming community, Hooda said, "The first thing we did was waived off 16,000 crore electricity dues of the farmers. We waived off the interest from 11 percent to just four percent. We gave the least expensive diesel to the farmers in the country," he added.
Hooda further promised that there won't be any dearth of electricity for the farmers in the state.

He also highlighted the government's move to frame a sports policy, which has brought laurels to the state.
"We made a separate sports policy and this is a proud moment for the state. In Commonwealth Games, out of 38 gold medals, Haryana's contribution is 22 even though we have just two percent population. We announced crores of money for those who won the medals," he said.
The Chief Minister also talked about other issues ranging from affordable housing for the poor and the army in addition to highlighting the work done by his government for the girl child.
