Haryana Governor gives away Manav Rachna excellence awards

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki gave away the Manav Rachna Excellence Award (MREA) for the year 2017 to five distinguished personalities over the weekend.

The awards were given away on the final day of the 'National Conference on Autonomy of Education'.

The five luminaries who were honoured included Rajan Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of the Escorts Group, (who was given the Lifetime Achievement Award), R.C. Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki (for nation building); Dinesh Kumar Sarraf, Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC (for corporate and industry); Ms Shradha Suri, Managing Director of the Subros Group (for Young Leader) and Ms. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, Badminton champion (for her exemplary contribution as 'the Sports Icon of India').

 

In his valedictory address, Solanki said, "Manav Rachna is the manifestation of the human element in man. Governments may come and go, but the nation goes forever. And in that our identity, culture and civilisation are of paramount importance for which the role of education and the people behind it can in no way be undermined. Infact, autonomy, peace and prosperity can be achieved through a lifestyle ingrained in traditional values on which the pillars of our culture and civilisation in Bharat rest."

He also extolled the virtues of the Bhagvad Gita while launching the book 'The Timeless Wisdom from Gita and the Art of Leadership' authored by Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI.
