HBO and Paramount Television are in negotiations to bring the 2010 hit film 'Shutter Island' to television in form of TV series.

The pilot for the project would be directed by Martin Scorsese, who had helmed Leonardo DiCaprio starrer film as well, from a script by Dennis Lehane, who authored the bestselling novel of the same name, Deadline.com reported.

The series is temporarily titled 'Ashecliffe', which was the name of the isolated mental hospital where the film was set, and would start with the events that happened prior to that of the film. The focus would be kept on the hospital's past and crimes committed by its founders.
