Heavy rain likely in isolated places in Telangana

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the Telangana districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad during the next 24 hours.

The Met Department has said there is a low pressure formation over Vidharbha and adjoining Telangana.

It said that the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana.

Light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are also likely to occur at many places in Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places in Rayalaseema during the same period.

Meanwhile, two Chetak helicopters of the Indian Air Force (IAF) got airborne yesterday for carrying out rescue operations at flood hit Edupalaya village in Medak district of Telangana.

 

The operation lasted for more than an hour wherein the IAF successfully airlifted 23 construction workers trapped on an island amidst strong currents and moved them to safer places.

The IAF is further standing by to undertake rescue operations in view of forecast of more rain in the next couple of days.
