Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson has won the US PGA Tour Championship and the season long FedEx Cup, a few years after losing most of his fortune as the victim of fraud, and collected a 11.4 million dollars pay cheque.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Stenson fired a final round two-under 68 to claim a three shot victory at East Lake Golf Club, pocketing the 1.44 million dollar first place cheque and securing his place at the top of the season points list to also garner the10 million dollar bonus.

Stenson led wire-to-wire, and held off a fast finishing 20-year-old rookie Jordan Spieth who was briefly just one off the lead, the report said.

However, he said that money was the second thing to him right now and having the two trophies meant a whole lot more.

Stenson also became the first European to win the FedEx Cup.

World No.1 and top seed Tiger Woods finished the week at even par in a tie for 22nd, still good enough to be second on the year to claim a 3 million dollar bonus, the report added.
