When Michelle Obama met Meryl Streep, they had more than just a formal conversation as the ladies discussed everything from their upbringings to mentoring their own daughters and the challenges women still face today.

Tabloid media revealed that the 51-year-old first lady and the 66-year-old Hollywood actress both have a lot of respect for their mothers, as they consider their moms as their mentors, reported the Marie Claire.

Talking about raising her daughters, the 'Into the Woods' star said that people tell her that she has played many strong women, to which she replies that people don't ask the same to men as they have varied expectations from them that isn't good.

Barack Obama's wife claimed that she never lectures her daughters on self-confidence, adding that she sneaks those conversations in when she's talking to them about their friendships or about the challenges they faced in a game or something that their dad said that made them mad.

Talking about gender equality, Streep said that women are viewed equal but are still not there, to which Obama agreed and said that sometimes women themselves are critical about the choices they make.
