Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has linked increasing frustrations among Manchester United fans to the defensive style of football adopted by the Old Trafford club this season.

Dutch managers Hiddink and Louis van Gaal are set to renew their rivalry when they go toe-to-toe at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

Van Gaal received widespread criticism from ex-players and fans over his defensive mindset, with the Dutchman saw himself booed off at several occasions. However, United bounced back to produce 'sparkling' football with two convincing back-to-back wins lately.

Hiddink expressed that disgruntled fans want to see more attacking style of play rather than seeing their side holding onto a possession-based philosophy, the Mirror reported.

Chelsea's interim manager also believes that the upcoming contest will also see a clash of playing styles. He said that fans in England are more inclined towards an action-packed, fast-moving style of game and that any coach who seeks to eliminate risk is doomed to be unpopular in the country.
