A high-ranking Malaysian police official has reportedly insisted that the pilot of the missing Malaysian jet was solely responsible for the plane's disappearance and presumed crash.
Since the plane's disappearance on March 8, it has been widely speculated that the pilots of the plane, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and Fariq Abdul Hamid were involved in the incident.
Although Malaysian officials insist that the pilots should be regarded as innocent until proven otherwise, but the unnamed officer, as quoted by USA Today, has said that there was no evidence of mechanical failure of hijacking by a passenger, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The officer revealed that police believe Captain Shah 'deliberately' redirected the plane, adding that of those on board the plane, only the captain possessed the experience and expertise to fly the plane.
Speculations have shot up after a homemade flight simulator was recovered from Shah's house.
Meanwhile, Shah's son spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time after the plane's disappearance, and insisted that he knew his father well and the rumours about his father's role in the incidence were false.
