Highlights of Union Budget 2014 (Part-III)

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday presented the Union Budget for fiscal 2014-15 in the Lok Sabha.

The highlights are as follows:

GST expected by end of 2014, government will streamline tax administration which will result in higher tax collection for centre and states

All retro taxes to be scrutinized by a high-level committee

MNREGA will be made more productive. It will be linked to agriculture related activities.

Save girl child, educate girl child programme will be launched

Real estate investment trusts - modified REITS is being announced for infrastructure projects to reduce pressure on banking system

Kisan Vikas Patras to be given greater push

New scheme for skill development called Skill India to be launched

 

Sanitation in every household by 2019

New schemes for SC, STs and senior citizens.
