Himachal Govt. launches digital payment services in luxury buses

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) here has launched digital payment services in public transport like luxury buses on Thursday.

The state government has tied up with HDFC bank in introducing digital transaction in luxury buses and ration depots.

Transport Minister of the state Gurmukh Singh Bali in conversation with ANI told, "We have taken a step ahead towards digital society. There is no restriction on cash payments. It's an alternative mode of payment to overcome dearth of currency notes caused due to demonetisation."

HRTC and HDFC entered into a contract whereby the bank would provide swipe machines to all luxury buses.

Government has already installed swipe machines at 119 ration depots under Civil Supply department. Further 180 depots are yet to be covered for installation of the same.
