Congress leader P.L Punia on Monday said former Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his own interest and benefit.
"There are many people who go there for their own interest and personal benefit people see through them, and they never support such kind of people," Punia told ANI here.
Criticizing the BJP, Punia said, "The Bharatiya Janata Party always does this which is undemocratic. They do not have any base."
"On one hand, they (BJP) say they will make a Congress-free India, and on the other hand, they want to create their base with the help of the Congress. This is undemocratic and encourages cross-voting. If the Bharatiya Janata Party calls itself a democratic party, then it should not behave in this way," Punia added.
