Bollywood actor Salman Khan's lawyer has filed an application in the Bombay High Court seeking permission to summon Kamal Khan as a witness in the 2002 hit and run case.
An application has been sent to the high court in this regard.
The application said that the lower court had the power to call Kamal Khan as a witness in the case, but he was not called.
A criminal court had earlier convicted Salman of culpable homicide on charges that he had lost control of his car when driving under the influence of alcohol and rammed into a group of people sleeping on a pavement, killing one and injuring four others.
Khan denied being behind the wheel, contradicting the testimony of several witnesses.
