Experts thought there wouldn't be a flock of films that would dominate the top of the charts like last year, but 'The Hobbit', 'Unbroken', 'Into The Woods', and many more proved them wrong and have made a large business post Christmas, the Deadline reported.

Nikki Rocco, chief of Universal distribution exclaimed that Christmas day was the catalyst and was such an extraordinarily high day on box office.

Rory Bruer, Domestic Distribution Head of Sony explained that there was a huge turnout of adults on Christmas day, and when adults go to the movies they let it go and unwind from the hectic holiday season.

Rentrak Theatrical estimated that the three day frame of December 26-28 earned 210 million dollars that was 6.6 percent over the same period last year.

As per experts, Hollywood movies catapulted around 10 billion dollars in 2014.
