Hockey World League trophy unveiled

Eight of the best teams from around the world have gathered at Raipur to compete at the year's biggest global hockey event, the Hockey World League Final.

The tournament which is slated to be played at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai International Hockey Stadium in Raipur from 27th November - 6th December 2015 will see hosts India along with Australia, Argentina, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands and Great Britain vying for the top honors.

In a glittering ceremony at a city hotel today, the captains of all the eight teams unveiled the beautiful Hockey World League Finals winner's trophy.

The tournament also marks the city's first ever exposure to a multi nation international tournament. The Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Stadium with a capacity for 3400 people boasts of a state of art turf and lighting suiting international norms.

 

India face Argentina in their first encounter on 27th November just after the grand opening ceremony showcasing the Chhattisgarh folk culture.
