England boss Roy Hodgson has insisted that he has no regrets about his World Cup strategy despite failing to go past the group stage after losing 1-2 to Uruguay.

Costa Rica's 1-0 victory over Italy resulted in England going out at the group phase for the first time since 1958 after their second defeat of the campaign against Uruguay in Sao Paulo on Thursday.

According to The BBC, Hodgson said that he had no regrets, before England's exit was confirmed, about the way he had approached the tournament in Brail.

Hodgson said that results colour everything, adding England has worked so hard, done so much preparations for this tournament and they feel that they came to Brazil well prepared but they failed.

The manager said England obviously had really big hopes and the squad was going to make the nation proud by going far in the tournament and they have not dine that so any words on any other subjects are pretty empty at the moment.

Hodgson added that he does not think that there is any need to doubt this England group of players will go on to do good things in the time ahead.

He added that he believes the team going forward would be very good team as they have got good young players.

England is now set to conclude their World Cup campaign in Brazil with a dead rubber against Costa Rica in Horizonte on Tuesday.
