England team manager Roy Hodgson has reportedly advised his players to relax on Brazil's beaches with their wives or partners in a secret tactic to win the 2014 World Cup.

The move is in stark contrast to the strict 'boot camp' regime of former boss Fabio Capello, whose hardline rules are said to have backfired in South Africa.

According to the Daily Star, Hodgson hopes that sprawling on Rio's famous Copacabana sands will help his players beat big-match stress and he has identified getting ready for the heat and humidity of the Amazon as key before England's first game against Italy in Manaus.

The report mentioned that the wives and girlfriends (WAGs)- Alex Gerrard (Steven Gerrard's wife), Coleen Rooney (Wayne Rooney's wife) and TV star Christine Bleakley (Frank Lampard's partner)- would mingle with the team.

Club England managing director Adrian Bevington and team doctor Ian Beasley flew to Brazil last week to check out the facilities and rejected notions about a beach ban for the players.

The FA will monitor the situation during their stay, with the team getting greater freedom than during previous tournaments, the report added.
