Honda starts week long celebrations on World Environment Day

Honda India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) started its week long celebrations on the World Environment Day at its Manesar Factory, Haryana and across all India dealership network for the 14th consecutive year.

In tune with this year's theme "Raise your voice not the sea level", Honda is celebrating "Environment Week from June 5th to June 11 this year.

Keita Muramatsu- President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, flagged off the celebrations with a tree plantation at the factory. This was followed by environment pledge taken by all Honda associates to stay committed towards environment protection in their work areas and day to day lives.

 

"Preserving the environment is top of the mind for us at Honda. As a responsible corporate, Honda announced its global vision of 30% CO2 reduction by 2020 and in India too, we are actively contributing to build a greener tomorrow. The same reflects in our processes, technology and plant architecture." Muramatsu said at the event.

Honda works on a holistic approach of environment preservation through its Green Factory, Green Dealer and Green Supplier concept.

Honda has installed 'Waste Heat Recovery Boilers to recover waste energy. Most of the waste water is recycled and reused within the factory. Various employee engagement programs including in-house training, slogan and poster making competitions are organized to encourage increased participation.

Special initiatives are planned at the dealership and society level. Free PUC check-up, sapling distribution for customers will be conducted at dealerships. More plantations and clean up drives will also be carried out at nearby public places.

Additionally, in collaboration with Haryana State Pollution Board (HSPCB), an awareness campaign, themed around promotion of "eco-friendly bags and non-usage of plastic bags was initiated".
