Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that only honest people can provide good governance in Delhi, which has sufficient resources to resolve most of its problems.

"When I was the chief minister, I learnt two things - firstly, that there is no paucity of funds in the government, but that there is a shortage of good people. If we have good people, we can make good roads, we can provide good education, we can give an uninterrupted supply of electricity, we can provide them with water and so on," Kejriwal told ANI in an exclusive interview.

"Secondly, 99 percent of the problems that the government is facing have solutions. They are deliberately kept pending," he added.

Kejriwal further said, "There is also a projection that we say that only we are honest. That is absolutely untrue - our fight is against corruption. I will never speak on personalities, I will speak on issues."

Kejriwal also shared his plans on the unauthorised colonies of Delhi.

"In Delhi, there are unauthorised colonies where people are almost living like animals. They do not have basic facilities because the areas where they live, no money can be spent on them. We want to regularise all unauthorised colonies within a year," he said.

Skirting around questions pertaining to the Jan Lokpal Bill, Kejriwal said, "Our plan to reduce corruption is an entire package. One part of that is the anti-corruption help line, the second part is the Jan Lokpal Bill, the third is the simplification of laws in the city and the fourth is the start of computerisation."

With the Union Cabinet recommending the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly and setting the stage for fresh elections in the days to come, political parties have begun finalizing their poll campaign strategy to grab power.

President's rule was imposed in Delhi since February after the Kejriwal-led AAP government stepped down after remaining in power for 49 days.
