Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing has regained his crown of Asia's richest person as Cheung Kong Holdings Limited shares soared the most in 17 years after he announced a 24 billion dollar recognition plan.

Cheung Kong's shares rose by 20 percent, the biggest jump since February 1998.

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Li is three million dollar ahead of Alibaba boss Jack Ma who is worth 28.2 billion as of Friday, reported China Daily.
