Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday mocked former chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief O P Chautala for dreaming of taking the oath for the office of chief minister from jail.
"Where on the one hand, the ones who are already chief ministers, are going to jail, on the other, O P Chautala is dreaming of becoming the chief minister of Haryana from the jail itself," said Hooda at a rally in Beri town in Haryana's Jhajjar District.
He further criticized Chautala for not relieving farmers from the burden of loans.
"Did Om Praksh Chautala waive off the loans of farmers, no he didn't, we (Congress) waived off the loans," Hooda added.
On Saturday, Chautala had to surrender before the Tihar Jail authorities as per the orders of the Delhi High Court. Before surrendering, he asked his party workers to work peacefully to ensure an INLD win in the assembly polls.
Chautala had earlier been granted bail on medical grounds. The CBI had earlier moved the Delhi High Court seeking cancellation of interim bail, saying he had violated its conditions. Chautala was sentenced to serve ten years in prison by a Delhi court on January 22, 2013 for illegally recruiting 3,206 JBT teachers in the state when he was chief minister. (ANI)

Moreover, Hooda also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their failure to live up to the promises made by them during the Lok Sabha elections.
"They (BJP) said they will reduce inflation, but today, to know the reality, ask the common man what the prices of potatoes and onions are," Hooda said.
He further took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over Chinese incursions in Ladakh during President Xi Jinping's visit to India last month, saying, " Our Prime Minister was welcoming the Chinese President and the Chinese Army was entering our land, this has never happened in history."
Elections in Haryana will take place on October 15, while votes will be counted on October 19.
