Hot air balloon with 16 people crashes in Texas

A hot air balloon carrying at least 16 people has caught fire and crashed in Central Texas on Saturday, with authorities saying that it appears there are no survivors.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office in a statement said that investigators are determining the number of victims and their identities, reports abc News.

Lynn Lunsford with the Federal Aviation Administration said that the accident happened shortly after 7:40 a.m. local time near Lockhart, Texas, when the hot air balloon crashed into a pasture.

He added that there were at least 16 people on board.

Meanwhile, Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are on their way to the scene to investigate the incident.
