ANI Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India]

Hotel Sangeetha on Monday issued a press release saying "The prices of food items in our hotels have been reduced at the rate of 10 to 20percent, consequent to the drastic slash of GST to 5percent from 18percent and 12percent on hotels and restaurants."

By way of clarification, Hotel Sangeetha issued a press release detailing following the recent reduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on hotels and restaurants with effect from November 14 midnight in all the 27 branches of Hotel Sangeetha. Necessary changes have been made in the billing software also.

However, due to technical snag, the prices at Sangeetha DLF branch have not changed on November 15 only. Once the error was brought to the notice of the management, the prices of food items were brought down immediately on November 16.

Unfortunately, in the mean-time, the news of non-reduction of prices at DLF Sangeetha branch went viral on social media. Though they had issued a clarification note about the price reduction in the social media, the old rumours are still found circulating. They, therefore, appealed to customers not to rely on rumors and to continue their patronage to the restaurants.

Customer welfare has always been at the forefront of the policy of Hotel Sangeetha. Considering the bug/technical error in the billing software which resulted in the non-reduction of prices for only one day in the DLF branch, Sangeetha has given an additional reduction of 10percent in the prices of food items, with effect from November 16 to 30 over and above the reduction of 10 to 20percent on food prices.
