How employers can benefit from promoting health programs in office

A new study has revealed that by adopting health programs in the office, employers can help improve their worker's health.

The researchers have issued recommendation for business and governmental leaders that would help them to adopt evidence-based disease prevention and health promotion programs in the workplace.

According to the study led by Dr. Katherine Tryon and Dr. Derek Yach from the Vitality Institute, its important to increase the level of training in health promotion and disease prevention and the level of advocacy by leaders both inside and outside of the workplace and that providing government incentives for employers to invest in workplace health programs.

 

The researchers said that increasing the quality and quantity of research into the benefits of workplace health programs and adjusting government regulations to promote the use of evidence-based disease prevention programs.

They also suggested that linking workplace and community-based programs in order to multiply the effect of each program can be beneficial for the employees and the organization.

The study was published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
