Drag flicker Jasjit Singh Kular's brilliance helped India to reach the semi-finals of the Hockey World League (HWL) tournament as the side defeated Malaysia 3-2 in a thrilling quarter-final yesterday.

After lagging by one goal, the Indian team bounced back in the final quarter of the match as Jasjit converted two penalty corners and won the match for his side.

Satbir Singh opened the scores for India in the fifth minute after which Malaysia scored two quick goals and kept the lead until the last quarter before Jasjit snatched the victory from the opponent.

The Indian side, which has already qualified for next year's Rio Olympics, will take on hosts Belgium for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, the Indian women's team will clash with Italy today in the fifth to eighth position classification fixture. They will have to win the game to keep their hopes of an Olympic place alive.
