Hyderabad-based Oakridge International School has announced plans to include financial intelligence in its curriculum.
Financial Intelligence is being seen now as an important and critical trait to be nurtured among children, as much as emotional intelligence. Currently, few schools in India have started organizing financial intelligence workshops for children.
Oakridge International School will be the first school to introduce financial intelligence from Grade 6 onwards. The curriculum is effective this academic year - 2014-15 across the Oakridge campuses - Hyderabad, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam and Chandigarh campuses.
Mr. Arjun Rao, Principal, Oakridge Bengaluru Campus, who is also spearheading the financial intelligence classes in his campus, says," The FI curriculum starts from Grade 6 onwards and will be advancing with more topics and activities for the subsequent classes."
"For Grade 7, 8 and 9, the curriculum starts with a foundation class that set their basics", he adds.
The entire curriculum is being categorized into economics, life planning, money management, government and financial institutions and will have activity based learnings, simulations and games designed for that.
