To promote eco-friendly festival, clay Ganesh Idols are being made by few Hyderabadi deity makers.
Over a lakh of clay Ganesh idols are being made to protect the environment from pollution in state.
Dattu, maker of Ganesh idols said, "Earlier 'Kummari Community' used to take help from Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority ( HMDA) to sell clay Ganesh idols."
"We encourage people to buy clay idols and not Plaster of Paris (POP) idols to safeguard environment" he added.
Raju, from non-profit organization, said, "I bought clay Vinayaka as POP idols increase pollution whereas clay idols are cheap and eco- friendly".
Vasundhara, a home maker, said, "For the better environment we only prefer clay Vinayaka at home since years".
