The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reportedly begun a weeklong mission to help manage nuclear waste caused by the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.

A 16-member team, headed by Juan Carlos Lentijo, will inspect the affected sites on their visit to the plant in order to present a set of proposals to the Japanese government on the problems that need to be addressed and how to make further progress in the decontamination work, Japan Times reports.

Meanwhile, the central and local governments are making plans to construct temporary storage facilities for nuclear waste in Fukushima Prefecture.
