The International Cricket Council (ICC) is reportedly confident that the presence of former Indian captain Anil Kumble in the discussion over the Decision Review System (DRS) will win over the powerful Indian board in changing their stance over the system.

DRS was first trialled in a Test between India and Sri Lanka in 2008 and made a terrible first impression on the likes of Kumble due to the inaccuracy of ball-tracking and other issues, following which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) questioned the efficacy of DRS and refused to use it.

According to News.com.au, however, in January 2014, the ICC set up a DRS working group, which includes the former India legspinner, who will meet in April with fellow group members, including Australians Wally Edwards, Geoff Allardice and Simon Taufel.

ICC chief Dave Richardson is optimistic that the presence of Kumble in the DRS discussions will lead to India implementing the system in their matches, adding that he hoped that everyone concerned will get to better understand the accuracy of the system.

Stating that they had agreed to using a standardised way of using technology, Richardson also said that they are now finding the DRS more accurate than before and much more reliable, adding that he believes the Indian players will have due faith in it soon.
