MD and CEO of ICICI Bank Limited, Chanda Kochhar, on Thursday donated Rs 15 crores for Uttarakhand flood relief operations.
Kochhar, who met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna here, handed over a cheque of Rs 15. crores.
"It is a natural disaster and on ICICI's behalf, we would like to donate 15 crores. This donation is contributed by 60,000 employees of ICICI. We are the largest private bank in Uttarakhand," Kochhar told media.
Bahuguna thanked ICICI Bank for its help.
"I would like to thank the ICICI Bank for coming forward to help in this situation," he said.
Floods, triggered by heavier than normal pre-monsoon rains in mid-June, left at least thousand people dead and swept away roads, bridges and buildings in Uttarakhand, a popular pilgrimage destination in the Himalayas.
