Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that if the Election Commission (EC) has given any notice, partymen Gopinath Munde will answer it.
Singh denied hearing the speech where Gopinath Munde admitted of using more than eight crores for election and said if Election Commission has given any notice, Gopinath Munde will answer it.
" This is our honesty and we won't cheat commoners," he added
The Election Commission has issued a show cause notice to Munde for his statement that he had spent eight crore rupees during the last Lok Sabha elections as against the prescribed ceiling of 25 lakh rupees.
In its notice, the Commission directed him to explain within 20 days the reasons for his failure to maintain a true and correct account of his election expenses.
In his election expenditure account lodged with the District Election Officer, the BJP leader had shown only 19 lakh 36 thousand 9 hundred 22 rupees as his election expenses whereas he publicly admitted at a function in Mumbai on Thursday that he spent 8 crore rupees on his election.
