If we plagiarized songs, so did Beethoven, says Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams

Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams, who are accused of ripping off their hit single 'Blurred Lines', has defended themselves by stating that Beethoven copied songs as well.

The duo has filed new court documents in their fight to prove that the song is not a rip-off of Marvin Gaye's, 'Got to Give It Up', TMZ.com reported.

Thicke and Williams are trying to prove out that several differences between notes in both the songs.

Thicke and Williams have stated that their song starts with a 5th symphony which has been a trend when Beethoven started making his music.

According to both the musicians 'Blurred Lines' is more similar to the 1960s song, 'Working In a Coal Mine'.
