The eighth edition of IIM Bangalore's National Annual Entrepreneurship Summit, Eximius, aims to give recognition and reward to local low-scale entrepreneurs in the Indian markets through the event Unsung Heroes.
The event, being conducted for the first time ever, has been conceptualized to target and capture the innovative practices of several urban, semi rural and rural entrepreneurs, who do not let resource constraints come in the way of solving their problems in a frugal and creative manner.
The contest, Unsung Heroes, is a video-making competition, where the participants will be required to capture the often unnoticed life and practices of the low-scale entrepreneur such as a hawker, roadside vendor etc.
There is no particular restriction on the sector and the participants will be judged on the uniqueness of the practices uncovered through their videos. The two winning entries will get publicity through IIM Bangalore's online and social media channels and a substantial cash award of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
What further makes this event unique is that the money will be split equally between the participants and the entrepreneur, whose story and venture have been covered in the video, thereby taking a crucial step towards supporting the entrepreneur as well.

IIM Bangalore will also host the team from the film 'Manjhi- The Mountain Man' for a panel discussion during Eximius, in keeping with the theme of 'Take Initiative: Do it Yourself'.

The team comprising the movie's director, Ketan Mehta, and actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte will participate in a panel discussion at IIM Bangalore on August 8 on the importance of taking initiatives and doing things on one's own. The panel will also have a representative from IIM Bangalore.
Expressing excitement about the tie-up, Team Eximius believes the story of the landless laborer Dashrath Manjhi, who carved out a path by breaking a mountain using a chisel, a hammer and sheer will power, has many lessons for students and entrepreneurs on the importance of focus and belief.
