Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) dean A K Ghoshal has been arrested for allegedly raping a colleague.
According to reports, the police arrested Ghoshal after a complaint was lodged by a senior assistant of the peer review section of the institute's academic affairs on December 12.
The police have reportedly stated that they have circumstantial evidence of misconduct by Ghoshal.
The police has arrested the dean under section 376(2)(b) of the Indian Penal Code which deals with a public servant who takes advantage of his official position and sexually assaults a subordinate.
