Bureau Chief of Syrian Arab News Agency ( SANA) Dr. Waiel Awwad on Saturday said that to prevent people from joining the ISIS, the Muslim clerics and Imams in the country should come out in open and tell their own community that they are against the ISIS.
"The Muslim clerics and the Imams should come in the open and tell people, tell their own community that we are against and we must fight it together. There has to be public programs, there has to be awareness programs, the clerics of the Muslim world should come against this kind of people, to prevent people from joining," Awwad told ANI here.
Terming Indian Muslims as 'moderate Muslim followers', Awwad recalled that Indians did not join Osama Bin Laden even at the peak of Laden's activities.
"Fortunately the Indian Muslims are considered to be most moderate Muslims followers in the world. If you remember during the Bin Laden time we did not see much of Indian involvement even at the peak of the Bin Laden activities," he Dr. Awwad said when asked how big a threat is ISIS to India.
"Having said that I wouldn't say there is no danger of Indians getting involved in this kind of recruitment because now the propaganda war has been setup for the last four years. It is the awareness program among Muslim people that should be more aggressive in avoiding and letting more people come across," he added.
